Since 2010, the Garesio family has acquired approximately 64 hectares of land, 21 of which under vines, divided among Serralunga d’Alba, the heart of Barolo, Perletto in Alta Langa, Incisa Scapaccino and Castelnuovo Calcea in Monferrato. Along with the vineyards, the Garesio family has undertaken the job of renovating and upgrading an old farmstead in Serralunga d’Alba. The aim of this top quality hospitality project is the creation of a place where wine becomes a daily experience, a full immersion in the flavors, nature, traditions and history of an area designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.

Balance, respect, and a deep understanding of vines and vineyards: Garesio “raw” material is naturally excellent. Each plot of land within the property has its own identity card and its own development, which is encouraged without excessive interference or manipulation. Their Nebbiolo vineyards are certified organic, an act of love and devotion towards one of the world’s rarest and most prized terroirs; the other vineyards are managed according to sustainable viticulture.

Winemaking: VINEYARD: Serralunga d’Alba, vineyards located near the winery, certified organic. Exposure: South, Southeast and East. Altitude: 250 -280m above sea level. Vine training system: vertically trellised, Guyot pruning system. Vineyard size: approximately 1.8 hectares. Type of soil: part of the Lequio formation, composed of sand and sandstone alternating with grey silty marl. VINIFICATION: from grapes in organic conversion. Hand-selection of grapes, harvest period: October. Fermentation and maceration for about 35 days, pumping over and racking and returning, with submerged cap for last 15 days. AGEING: in 25 and 50 hectolitre Austrian oak barrels for about24 months. Further ageing in the bottle for about 12 months before going on sale.

Organoleptic Characteristics

  • Colour: Brilliant garnet red color.
  • Nose and flavour: Scents of strawberry, cherry, red berries, rose, violet, and liquorice. Powerful, with delicate, elegant tannins.

Suggestions

  • Serving Temperature and Food Matching Serving temperature: 18-20°C.
  • Recommended with: Suited to robust dishes such as roasts, braises, all types of game, and with aged hard cheeses. Also good with dry pastries at the end of a meal.
